Cala Millor: a bit of history

Its very name means “the best bay” and in fact it was already visited by tourists in the 19th century.

It is a resort located in the east of Mallorca where everything is designed for the enjoyment of tourists.

It comprises part of two municipalities: The northern part, belonging to Son Servera, and the southern part, belonging to the municipality of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.
In 1934 the Hotel Eureka was built, the first hotel in Cala Millor.

Since then, it has grown and expanded over the years, reaching the neighbouring village of Cala Bona.

Cala Millor offers you a thousand and one things to do, both within the resort and in the surrounding area.
Let’s take a look at some of the activities you can do, although, as we say, it’s impossible to get bored here.

Just behind the promenade of Cala Millor is the busy shopping street.
It is a pedestrian zone where you can find all kinds of boutiques, supermarkets, shoe and bath shops, souvenir shops and restaurants.

At the end of the main tourist season, this festival is organised with various concerts, sporting and dance events and a fireworks display on the beach to round off the event.

Old watchtower Punta de N’amer

Sa Punta de n’Amer is a Natural Area of Special Interest located between the beaches of Cala Millor and Sa Coma.

We can walk through this large natural area with several points of cultural interest with the family to spend a different day.

The most attractive point is the tower of Sa Punta de n’Amer known as “Es Castell.
Dating from the 17th century, it can be visited inside and you are allowed to climb up to its terrace to enjoy magnificent views of the surroundings.

It is part of a group of “watchtowers” that surround the island.
You can also visit some natural pools that have formed in the quarries or the abandoned bunkers from the Spanish Civil War period.

If you reach the top of Na Penyal you will enjoy an incomparable panorama. There is a small path that will take you to the top, but we advise you to wear good shoes.

Rent fun vehicles

There are numerous bike, buggy, Segway, etc. rental companies to spend a pleasant time or even a whole day.
The companies themselves offer you the possibility of tours, excursions and guided tours with off-road parts if you want to adapt them to your level.
Discovering picturesque bays, hidden beaches and historic ruins by driving on developed roads or off-road through hills and valleys is a most enjoyable experience.

Take a boat trip

At Sailing Trip Mallorca we offer you the possibility to enjoy a full day at sea on board one of our boats. You can book them from this link.

Nightlife and Leisure

Naturally, this resort has a lively nightlife.
Beach clubs in Mallorca are almost a way of life and Cala Millor is no exception, although it is a quieter area compared to other towns on the island.

Drinking cocktails and enjoying live music are activities you can do on any summer night in Cala Millor.

To conclude today’s article, we would like to tell you that the best time of the year to travel to Cala Millo is undoubtedly during the summer.
However, if you prefer to avoid the crowds, consider visiting in the months of May and June or in September and October, when the weather is just as pleasant and there are far fewer tourists.
